How To Use
Take Generic Proscar (Finasteride) orally, once a day. This medication can be taken with or without food. You should take these pills for at least 6 months to make sure the maximum results have been achieved.
If you suspect you have taken too much of this medication, you need to contact your local poison control center and the emergency medical services.
An overdose of Generic Proscar (Finasteride) is not expected to be life-threatening.
If you have a missed a dosage of Generic Proscar (Finasteride), take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is near the next scheduled dose, wait until then to take the medication and skip the missed dose. Do not double up on this medication to make up for a missed dose.
Do not share this medication with others, as they may have a condition that is not adequately treated by Generic Proscar (Finasteride).
Store Generic Proscar (Finasteride) at room temperature, below 86 degrees F (30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. KEEP THIS AND ALL OTHER MEDICATION OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

- Liver diseases
- Prostate cancer
- Any allergies
- A bladder muscle disorder
- Stricture of your urethra
- Unable to urinate
If you suffer or have suffered from any of the above conditions, you may not be able to take this medication or you may need a dosage adjustment.
Generic Proscar (Finasteride) is not intended for use by women. However, if a pregnant woman comes into contact with this medication, it could lead to birth defects in the unborn baby. The tablets should not be handled by a woman who is pregnant or is planning to become pregnant. If a pregnant woman accidentally comes into contact with Generic Proscar (Finasteride) pills that have been broken or crushed, she should thoroughly wash the area with water and soap straightaway.
There are no known adverse interactions between Generic Proscar (Finasteride) and other medication. However, you should still advise your doctor of all prescription and over-the-counter medication you use, including herbal pills, dietary supplements, vitamins and medication prescribed by another doctor. Do not start a new medication without telling your doctor.
Generic Proscar (Finasteride) is generally well-tolerated, but the following common, temporary side effects could occur:
- Feeling like you might pass out
- Swelling in the hands or feet
- Pain in the testicles
- Impotence, loss of interest in sex or trouble having an orgasm
- Abnormal ejaculation
- Swelling or tenderness in your breasts
- Dizziness, weakness
- Runny nose
- Skin rash
- Increase in hair growth
Notify your doctor if any of the above side effects persist or become worse.
Tell your doctor immediately if you notice any of the following serious side effects:
- Breast lumps
- Nipple discharge
- Other breast changes
The above may all be signs of male breast cancer.
Seek emergency medical help if you experience any of the following signs of an allergic reaction to Generic Proscar (Finasteride):
- Difficulty breathing
- Swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat
The above is only a partial list and other side effects may occur. Talk to your doctor if you notice any other side effects than the ones mentioned above, especially if they are bothersome.
