How To Use
Generic Evista (Raloxifene) should be taken orally once a day, with or without food. Follow the instructions of your doctor exactly, even if they differ from the usually recommended dosage. Take this medication regularly and at the same time every day to enjoy its maximum benefits.
If you suspect you have taken too much Generic Evista (Raloxifene), contact your local poison control center or the emergency medical services immediately.
If you miss a dose of Generic Evista (Raloxifene), take it as soon as you remember. If you are near the time of the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume your normal dosing schedule. Do not double up on this medication to try and make up for a missed dosage.
Make sure you schedule regular doctor's appointments, medical tests and physical examinations to monitor your progress and check for side effects. Examine your breasts for lumps on a regular basis and report anything unusual to your doctor straightaway, such as unusual vaginal bleeding, breast pain or lumps.
Positive lifestyle changes can go a long way in promoting healthy bones. Possible changes include regular exercise, quitting smoking, limiting alcohol, maintaining a healthy diet and consuming enough calcium and vitamin D.
Do not share this medication with others, as they may have a condition that is not effectively treated by Generic Evista (Raloxifene).
Store Generic Evista (Raloxifene) at room temperature between 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C) and away from light and moisture. KEEP THIS AND ALL OTHER MEDICATION OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN.

Before taking Generic Evista (Raloxifene), you should discuss all past and present medical conditions with your doctor, including:
- Active or past history of blood clots (e.g. deep venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, retinal vein thrombosis)
- Kidney or liver diseases
- High blood pressure
- Heart or blood vessel diseases (e.g. congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, stroke, transient ischemic attack)
- High blood cholesterol levels
- History of high blood fat (triglyceride) levels due to estrogen treatment
If you suffer or ever have suffered from any of the above conditions, you may not be able to take Generic Evista (Raloxifene) or you may need a dosage adjustment.
Generic Evista (Raloxifene) is classed as Pregnancy Category X by the FDA, which means it could cause harm to an unborn child. Do not use this medication when pregnant or planning to become pregnant during treatment. If you accidentally fall pregnant while using these pills, you should contact your doctor immediately.
It is not known whether Generic Evista (Raloxifene) passes into breast milk, but it is not recommended to take this medication while breastfeeding. Discuss the use of this medication while breastfeeding with your doctor.
Inform your doctor of all other medication you use before taking Generic Evista (Raloxifene). The following may negatively interact with this medication:
- Cholestyramine (or other anion-exchange resins)
- Estrogen blockers (such as Letrozole)
This is only a partial list and others may interact with Generic Evista (Raloxifene). Inform your doctor of all prescription and non-prescription medication you use, including dietary supplements, vitamins, herbal pills and medication prescribed by other doctors. Do not stop or start taking any medication without discussing it with your doctor first.
The following common side effects of Generic Evista (Raloxifene) may occur:
- Hot flashes
- Leg cramps
Notify your health care professional promptly if any of the above side effects persist or worsen.
Infrequently, Generic Evista (Raloxifene) may cause strokes or severe blood clots in the legs, lungs or eyes. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the following unlikely but serious side effects:
- Pain or swelling in the leg
- Trouble breathing
- Chest pain
- Sudden vision changes
- Severe headache
- Weakness on one side of the body
In rare cases, a severe allergic reaction to this medication is possible. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any of the following symptoms:
- Itching or swelling (especially of the face, tongue or throat)
- Severe dizziness
- Trouble breathing
This is only a partial list and others may occur. Let your doctor know if you experience any other side effects than the ones mentioned above, especially if they are bothersome.
